Earthquake Victim Students in Burdur Started Classes in the Classrooms Opened at MAKÜ

Due to the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, after the break given to education, students in preschool, primary, and secondary schools in 71 provinces outside the earthquake zone started classes.

 

Students who came from the earthquake zone to Burdur and were hosted in the dormitories of the Credit and Dormitories Institution General Directorate in the İstiklal Campus with the cooperation of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) started classes in the classrooms created within the MAKÜ Faculty of Education.

Approximately 140 students attended the ceremony to start the education, including Deputy Governor İbrahim Özkan, Rector Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, Rector Advisors Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mustafa Kılınç, Provincial Director of National Education Nesrin Kakırman, Credit and Dormitories Institution Fereli Sinan Efendi Dormitory Manager Mustafa Özçelik, NGO representatives, teachers, and members of the press.

The opening speech of the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, was made by Provincial Director of National Education Nesrin Kakırman. In her speech, Kakırman expressed her happiness to host the students in Burdur and wished the education period to be beneficial.

Rector Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz said, “We are the hosts, you are the guests, but when you reach university age, the first university you will all choose will be Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. You are now part of our MAKÜ family. Today, we are together as a nation. Today you are here, and we could have been guests in your cities. We are honored by your presence here. This is the best example of being together as a nation in unity. It is taught in lessons how a nation is, and here we show the unity of the Turkish people by being there for each other and supporting each other in difficult and bad times. Hopefully, you will continue as much stronger generations in the future. You are above our heads, we love you all very much, welcome.”
